在Debian/Ubuntu环境的VirtualBox instance中使用host的USB设备的解决方法

我主要参考了这篇文章，以下是我的步骤：

  1. Uninstall the existing “VirtualBox-OSE” version(3.1.6) by executing the following command(you can skip this step if you didn’t install “VirtualBox-OSE” before):

sudo apt-get remove virtualbox-ose

  1. Download and install the latest VirtualBox (version 4.1.4) package from “https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads“;

  2. In order to support USB device, the “Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack“ is also needed. Download the “Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.1.4-74291.vbox-extpack” file and install it by double clicking.

  3. Add the login account to the “vboxusers” group(System -> Administration -> Users and Groups -> Manage Groups), restart the computer;

  4. Plug the USB device, start VirtualBox, open the configuration of a VirtualBox instance, in the “USB” tab add the USB device;

  5. Start the VirtualBox instance and it should be OK.
